Our Bahamas Sailing Adventure Program is always customized for your groups specific needs.

There are numerous optional side field trip opportunities for those with interest. Homeschool groups typically add these excurisions and lectures to enhance the educational value of the adventure experience. Please see our links page for options that we will gladly include in your adventure week itinerary. Contact us for furthur details.

The structure of the adventure sailing program is patterned after actual ship board crew experience. Of course the Captain is responsible for all shipboard decisions and activities. The First Mate is second in command and works closely with the Crew Chief. The Crew Chief, (elected or appointed by your group prior to arriving in the Bahamas, is third in command. The Crew Chief is responsible for the entire crew, including adult leaders, on board and on shore. He or she will assign daily ship board duties, and inspect the work done, The entire crew shares in the day to day operation of the vessel. Each participant will be involved in and rotate through all ship board tasks. These tasks include galley detail, ship board communications, meterology, ships logging, anchor watches, and yes, even head detail. At the end of your adventure the entire crew will conduct a final cleanup and inspection. Teaching leadership and responsibility is just one facet of the adventure experience.

Each participant will learn sailing, navigation, and helmsmanship aboard. "Hands on" experience as you learn about reefs, wildlife, and the importance of each in the ecology of the planet. You will have the opportunity to go to the top of the last manually operated, kerosene fueled lighthouse in the world. Museums located at many of our island stops, offer insight into the history and culture of this island paradise. This is an amazing opportunity for all to learn about a foreign island paradise and having the adventure of a lifetime!

Prior to our life aboard, Captain Steve coached youth sports year round for almost two decades. We have hosted over a hundred youth groups and hundreds of youth participants aboard s/v Natures Way. For the last several years, Captain Kim has been and remains the Director of the Boy Scouts of America, Bahamas High Adventure Sea Base program here in the Abacos. This combination gives us the skills and experience required to make this an awesome adventure for all.
