Your sailing adventure takes place in Marsh Harbour, Great Abaco Island, Bahamas. Friendly and accessible, the Abaco's are located 180 miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida. These Bahamian Out Islands are known as "The Family Islands". The smaller islands surrounding Great Abaco are called cays (pronounced keys) and are known to be one of the worlds' premier cruising-sailing destinations.

The history of these islands is unique. The Spaniards were the first Europeans to explore the Abaco's, but the Lucayan Indians were native to the area and disappeared soon after the arrival of the Europeans. In the 1500s, the British colonized the larger Bahamas islands. During the 1700s, piracy prevailed in the area as it was well suited to trade with its numerous coves, cays, and other small islands. Wrecking, a term used to describe the salvaging of ships wrecked on the numerous reefs surrounding the Bahamas, became a major industry in the 1800s. The area abounds with stories of pirates, colonists, and wreckers, which give this area its natural flair for high adventure.

The Sea of Abaco is a body of water protected by the outlying islands and reefs. The third largest barrier reef is accessible by boat or just off of some of the Travel Channels top beaches in the world. Snorkel and swim in the pristine Atlantic and Sea of Abaco waters. Enjoy safe harbours and anchorages as we "island hop" inside the barrier reef and Out Islands here in the protected Sea of Abaco.

The beauty of this area, the rich history, diverse culture, and a sailing environment of protected clear waters, makes this the top Adventure destination in the world. The Boy Scouts of America has sold the Seabase High Adventure program out for over 25 years. Continue through our site and discover the Natures Way Sailing Adventure program set here in the Abacos is a perfect blend for your groups adventure!
